Written to be read. If a sentence here needs a lawyer to translate it, it has failed at its job, and we would like to hear about it.

What Coppernook is

Coppernook is a private board for one small community, where a neighbor can say what they need and other neighbors can offer to help. Grizzly Mining Company LLC builds and hosts it and offers it as is, at no charge.

Coppernook makes an introduction. Everything after the introduction is between you and your neighbor.

What Coppernook is not

Coppernook is not an employer, an employment agency, a staffing service, a contractor, a broker, a licensed care provider, a medical or transport service, or an emergency service. It does not screen, license, insure, bond, train, supervise, or run background checks on anyone, and it is not a party to any arrangement you make with another neighbor.

In an emergency, call 911. Coppernook is not monitored, and a post is not a call for help that anyone is on duty to answer.

Adults hold the accounts

You must be 18 or older to have an account, to post a request, or to offer help. Do not open an account for someone under 18 and do not hand yours to a child to use.

Children still come up, because a ride to practice or a hand with a sick kid is a real thing to need. Ask for what your family needs, and say only what the ask requires. An arrangement that involves a child is made by the parent or guardian responsible for that child, who is expected to be present for it. Nobody on this board is screened, licensed, insured, or background checked, and Coppernook makes no representation about anyone's fitness to be around a child. That judgment is yours, and so is the supervision.

Neighbors, not contractors

• Coppernook is a place to ask a neighbor for a hand. It is not a job board, a marketplace, or a way to find work.
• Do not advertise a business, solicit customers, quote a price, or post a rate.
• Do not bill anyone for something arranged here, and do not use a post as a lead for a service you sell.
• No money moves through Coppernook. There is no payment processing, no escrow, no fee, no subscription, and no cut of anything.

A thank you is welcome. A rate is not.

Gas money, a casserole, or something for the trouble is a kindness between the two of you, arranged between you, and Coppernook is not involved in it and takes no responsibility for it. Charging by the hour, the job, or the mile turns a favor into a service, and a service belongs somewhere other than this board.

Not a soapbox, and not social media

Coppernook has one job. A neighbor needs something, another neighbor helps. There is no feed, no followers, no likes, no comments section, and no reason for anyone to hold your attention. Nobody here is building an audience.

So this is not the place for politics, campaigns, elections, ballot measures, petitions, religious outreach, activism, fundraising drives, opinion pieces, news commentary, or the arguments that come with any of them. That is not a judgment about what you believe. It is that a board this small only works for as long as everyone on it can still ask everyone else for a hand, and in a town this size, those conversations cost exactly that.

Also not here: chain messages, surveys, contests, giveaways, recruiting for a business or a downline, and anything posted to promote a cause rather than to ask for or offer help.

People, not programs

Every account belongs to one real adult, using their own name. Do not run an account for someone else, do not run more than one, and do not hand yours to anybody.

Automated use is not allowed. That means bots, scripts, scrapers, crawlers, bulk sign-ups, and any tool that reads the board or posts to it on your behalf. Do not copy the board's contents in bulk by any method, and do not feed anything from it, including posts, profiles, names, or contact details, into an artificial intelligence system for training or for any other purpose.

Do not send unsolicited or repetitive messages, and do not treat a request as a mailing list. We block automated traffic and spam as we find it, without notice and without explanation. We would rather block ten harmless scripts than let through the one that is quietly harvesting a neighbor's phone number.

Use the judgment you already use

You decide who comes to your place, whose truck you get into, and what you are willing to do for someone. You are allowed to say no, and you never owe a reason. Meet somewhere open if you would rather. Bring someone with you. Ask what a stranger is doing here before you hand over a key. Reasonable doubt is welcome, and not rudeness. Always be kind, courteous and wise.

You are responsible for your own safety, for anything you agree to do, and for anything that happens while you do it. Help offered here is voluntary and at your own discretion and risk.

What you learn here stays here

A name, a phone number, an address, or the reason someone asked belongs to that neighbor. Do not repost it, forward it, screenshot it into another group, publish it, or bring it up somewhere it was not offered. Do not use anything you learn here to sell to someone, to embarrass someone, or to settle something.

Say it the way you would at the post office

You will see these people at the store on Saturday. Anything written to demean, harass, threaten, or humiliate comes down, and so does anything aimed at a neighbor for asking for help or for declining to give it. Retaliation against someone for a post, an offer, or a refusal is treated the same as the original offense.

Who does not get to stay

Access to a Coppernook board is a courtesy extended by the community that runs it, and it can be withdrawn. Grizzly Mining Company LLC and the people who run your town's board may each decline, suspend, or end anyone's access, and may remove anything posted, at any time, in our sole discretion, with or without notice, and with or without giving a reason. We do not owe anyone an explanation, an investigation, a warning, or an appeal. Choosing not to act in one case does not oblige us to act in any other.

No rulebook is long enough to cover every way a person can be wrong. What follows are examples, not the limit:

• Taking advantage of a neighbor, particularly one who is elderly, ill, isolated, grieving, or otherwise in a position to be taken advantage of.
• Using what a post told you for anything other than answering it: to sell, to solicit, to pry, to gossip, to intimidate, or to get inside someone's home.
• Theft, fraud, a scam, or asking a neighbor for money, credentials, or access to an account.
• Misrepresenting who you are, why you are here, or what you are qualified to do.
• Threats, stalking, harassment, slurs, or anything aimed at a neighbor for asking for help or for declining to give it.
• Anything involving a child that a reasonable parent in this town would not want happening.
• Conduct away from the board, in town or anywhere else, that gives us reason to believe a neighbor would be unsafe, or simply worse off, for having met you here.
• Coming back after being removed, under any name, address, or number.

That second-to-last one is deliberate. A board like this runs on trust rather than on background checks, and trust is a judgment call. If we conclude that letting someone stay would put a neighbor at risk, they do not stay, and we are not required to prove our reasoning to them or to anyone else.

Removal is not a punishment. It reflects a decision about the board, not a conclusion about a person. It means only that this particular board is no longer the right fit, and nothing more than that should be read into it. We are neighbors looking after a small board, not judges, and anything criminal or dangerous belongs with the sheriff rather than a comment thread.

We are not obligated to monitor the board, and nothing is reviewed before it appears. If something needs attention, write to contact@coppernook.com. We may act on what a neighbor reports without investigating it further, and we accept no liability for removing anyone, for declining anyone, or for leaving anything up.

Your posts

What you write stays yours. You give Coppernook permission to show it to the neighbors on your town's board so the board can do its job, and nothing beyond that. You are responsible for what you post being true and for having the right to post it.

Availability and changes

Coppernook is offered as is and as available, with no warranty of any kind. Features can change or go away, and these rules can change. When they change materially, the change will be posted here and shown in the app rather than slipped in quietly.

If Coppernook changes hands

If Coppernook is ever sold, merged, or otherwise transferred to someone else to carry on, this agreement goes with it. We may transfer or assign it, along with the board and everything stored on it, and these rules carry across unchanged. Whoever takes over steps into our place here, including the judgment calls above about who gets to stay, and any change they make has to be posted before it takes effect. You cannot hand your side of this agreement to somebody else; an account belongs to the adult who opened it. The Privacy Policy says the same thing about what is stored.

Limits

To the fullest extent the law allows, Grizzly Mining Company LLC is not liable for anything arising out of your use of Coppernook, including anything a neighbor does or fails to do, anything that happens while help is being given or received, anything agreed between neighbors, or anything lost, damaged, or injured in the course of it. Coppernook is provided at no charge and its total liability to you is limited accordingly.
